Former UK Wildcat Landon Slone Transfers to Pikeville college
Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11:28AM Landon Slone, the Former U K Wildcat has transferred to Pikeville College.
Slone, who played his freshman season under Billy Gillispi , will be a student at Pikeville this semester, he will have three years of athletics elgibility remaining.
Slone a Paintsville High School graduate, was a first-team all-state selection during his senior year. Slone averaged 25.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game and led the Tigers to the quarterfinals of the Sweet 16. The appearance was notable because Slone used it as a showcase for the basketball abilities he was known for in the mountains.
At Kentucky, Slone played in 15 games last season, scoring 22 points and pulling down 17 rebounds. Averaging nearly seven minutes a game, Slone had nine assists and three steals while being charged only two turnovers for the season.A sharp shooter with impressive range, Slone was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line for the season.
The 6-foot-3 guard, was the 2008 15th Region player of the year, and the Adidas Appalachian Player of the Year as well as a first-team all-mountain selection as named by WYMT-TV.
