Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 9:11AM CORBIN, Ky. — State officials have determined that a Knox County fire department is in non-compliance after five volunteers resigned their positions.
Chief Bobby Valentine of East Knox Volunteer Fire Department in Flat Lick told The Times-Tribune on Tuesday night that he thinks those who left lacked the dedication needed for such a position

Valentine said the state fire commission requires volunteer fire departments to have at least 12 firefighters and a fire chief. He says the commission has given the department until Jan. 15 to get back into compliance.
