Corbin Middle School Social Studies teacher Brent Jackson was recently named Social Studies Teacher of the year 2011 KY council for Social Studies.

Jackson has taught Social Studies at Corbin Middle School for 10 years, he has worked in the Corbin School District for 14 years. He has presented at multiple state conferences on the success of PLCs in the classroom, as well as the successes of the Social Studies Department at CMS. Jackson is scheduled to present at the National Middle School Conference in November.
“If you look at our Social Studies scores the last few years, you can see the amazing results of all your hard work,” Board Chair Kim Croley said. “Having a student in your class last year, I can attest to the wonderful teaching job that you do with your students.”
“Mr. Jackson makes our nation's early history come alive for the students” Croley continued. “We are all blessed by having Mr. Jackson teach in our school system. He sets the right example for our students every day both in and out of the classroom.”
In addition to his teaching career, he has also had a successful football coaching career at CMS for the past 14 years. His team was 8th Grade KYMSFA Middle School semi-finalist in 2009; and State Champions in 2010. Jackson presented at the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic in 2009 and 2010.
