Why does Micro-Armor beat Lucas Oil Stabilizer?

Short Answer

Lucas Oil Stabilizer is an oil thickener.  It contains no anti-wear or repair additives for engine protection and repair.  Micro-Armor 1000 is an engine treatment that contains patented anti-wear and repair additives not contained in existing engine oils and treatments.  Micro-Armor 1000 protects and repairs engine wear by filling in scratches caused by friction and smoothing metal surfaces.  This action reduces friction and improves engine performance and longevity.

 

Longer Answer

Your engine’s oil is circulated throughout the engine by the oil pump.  When the engine shuts off, gravity causes the oil to drain off the engine parts and collect at the bottom in the oil pan.  Then, when you start your engine, the pump starts working and the oil is circulated throughout the engine again… but not instantaneously.  For the initial few seconds of engine (and oil pump) start up, some engine parts are moving against each other, causing friction and wear, with little or no oil protecting them.  It is during these few seconds of engine startup that much of engine wear occurs.  This situation is often referred to as a “dry start”.

 

Unlike Micro-Armor 1000, Lucas Oil Stabilizer contains no anti-wear or repair additives.  Lucas Oil Stabilizer works by

1.) thickening your engine’s oil to “cushion” a little more against friction and

2.) helping the oil to resist gravity and stay on the parts a little longer when you shut the engine off.

  This thickening action is demonstrated by Lucas Oil’s “oil climbing the spinning gears” comparison display at many auto stores.  A thicker oil will do the same thing.  Addressing the first point, many experts say that if you want a thicker oil to get better protection then just use a thicker oil.  On the second point, Lucas Oil Stabilizer will improve the dry start situation, but only so much.  Eventually gravity wins, the oil still drains to the bottom of the engine, and you still get friction and engine wear at start up.  Again, Lucas Oil Stabilizer contains no anti-wear or repair additives.

 

Micro-Armor 1000 Engine Treatment is a patented, engine oil additive made of soft ductile metals, uniform and spherical in shape, ranging from 5 to 15 microns in size. Metallurgists in the field of tribology (the study of friction) confirm that soft metals provide superior friction-reducing quality and enhanced lubrication between two hard surfaces. 

These soft metals are coupled with special suspension agents to provide a solid boundary lubrication that can provide enhanced engine performance even under extreme conditions.  As metal moves against metal, these microscopic soft-metal particles migrate into pits, crevices and scratches caused by friction.  Unlike conventional film lubricants and thickeners that try to make scratched up metal surfaces “slippery”, the Micro-Armor 1000 Engine Treatment micro-metals fill, pack and plate the imperfect surfaces.  Smoother engine surfaces mean less friction.

"This letter is to inform you of the results we've had using Micro-Armor products. We run 12 mixer trucks:

    3 International 9.0 liter dt/dti-466c turbocharged engines
    9 Mack 6 cylinder dm600s, 11.0 liter engines

We also have 1 Cat 966D loader, and 1 Komatsu W120.

As you know, our mixer trucks operate in an environment filled with very fine, abrasive dust particles. At the end of May we began introducing Micro-Armor 1000 Oil Treatment into the engine oil. Later on in the summer we began putting it into the rear ends, transmission, power steering, axle bearings, and into the hydraulic systems. Over the years, we’ve always tried to use quality lubricating products on our bridges, but we’ve never found one that could truly handle the combination of stresses that we have here. Greases that seemed to handle the force couldn’t stand up to the heat and would run off the metal gears. Grease that could handle the heat would get washed off in the hard Florida rains. The Micro Armor oil additive was first used here at Mueller Brass Company in a Worthington vertical septuplex plunger pump driven by 1000 h.p. electric motor. Lubricating oil for this pump is cooled with a water cooling heat exchanger. Oil temperature is monitored at both sides of the heat exchanger to insure it is operating properly. The amperage on all three legs of the electric motor are also monitored, but only under load.. Before adding your oil additive, temperature and amperage readings were taken and recorded several times over a 3 day period.

One hour after adding Micro Armor the oil temperature had dropped 10 degrees. The reduction of friction had to be almost instantaneous. We did not get a change in our amperage reading, but again, we were recording only under full load of 320 G.P.M. with a discharge pressure of 4500 P.S.I. With a price tag of $70, 000 to rebuild one of these pumps, the drop in temperature was Build one of these pumps, the drop in temperature was convincing enough to put Micro Armor in all five pumps.

Michigan Paving & Materials now uses Micro-Armor 5000 and 6000 Grease in all of their greasing applications, including their Seceo double-decker screener, trunnion bearings, feeder bearings, bag house bearings, cold and hot drums, and flop gates. Micro-Armor 1000 Oil Treatment is used to reduce friction and heat in all gear boxes and Micro-Armor 4000 Spray Lubricant is used on all of the drive chains.

It is a very tough environment. Lubrication is critical because during maintenance and repair down time we don’t make money. One of our most demanding applications involves our Blaw Knox pavers.

In this machine there is an auger bar that runs all day distributing a heavy mix of tar, sand, and rock at temperatures that can reach 350 degrees F. In the past we had to replace the 4 bearings on this auger, and the bearings on other machines, every year and sometimes more often. When a bearing replacement was needed during the paving season it was two full days without that machine on the job site. That was very costly.

When introduced to the Micro-Armor greases we were very skeptical, but we trusted the person that recommended it so we gave it a try. When it worked on the augers we knew that this grease was something different.

The difference has been remarkable. Since switching to Micro-Armor greases on our pavers, trucks, and other equipment, we have just finished our 5th season without a bearing failure. The augers in our pavers run continuously without a problem.

We are amazed that there can be so much difference between greases. We thought we were using a high performance, heavy-duty grease, but by switching to Micro-Armor we have been able to reduce downtime and make our equipment last longer. That savings go right to the bottom line.

As a professional Nuclear Engineer with 22 years experience in operations and management of facilities as diverse as Nuclear Submarines, Oil and Gas Pipelines, and Astronomical Observatories, I have become very skeptical of claims made by lubrication products. Most have proved worthless under other than laboratory conditions.

Personally I witnessed torque tests involving Timken Bearings where the Micro-Armor greases outperformed what we thought were high quality grease by over 400%. Since then I’ve started using Micro-Armor 1000 in my car’s engine. Shortly after adding it I saw a 20% drop in the operating temperature, showing a distinct decrease in engine friction. It is my professional opinion, and that of my mechanic, the Micro-Armor oil additive worked as claimed.

As an Automotive Repair Shop owner, I was asked to evaluate a product called Micro-Armor 1000. For this customer we maintain a fleet of GMC trucks, 2 mini buses, and a number of vans. There are 41 vehicles in all. Compression tests were taken on 4 of the vehicles and the Micro-Armor products was added to the existing oil.

After driving 1000 miles of each, the compression was taken again. Every vehicle showed an increase in compression by approximately 5% to 7% per cylinder. Oil consumption had decreased and several of the drivers indicated an increase in power. None of the drivers had any knowledge of an additive being used.

At this point the entire fleet is being treated with Micro-Armor, and all vehicles are showing an improvement in compression, oil consumption, and performance. This has certainly convinced me.

As a large, brass extrusion plant we have lots of heavy machinery in a hot and tough environment. Good lubrication is critical. We treated a Schumuch 200 gallon gear box with your Micro-Armor gear additive. The gear box temperature went from 147° F down to 98° F and has been operating like that for over one year. We are able to go longer in between oil changes and our parts are showing less wear. The Schumuch equipment uses wet clutches and the noise level and chatter was decreased significantly. Now we use the grease on our heavy cooling fans and all over the plant.

Your Micro-Armor lubricants are even better than you say they are!

My son, Jarred Williams, competes throughout the U.S. in over 100 motocross races each year.  He races both a Yamaha YZ 125 and Suzuki RMZ 250 and is quite competitive, having won numerous track and series championships.  Jarred ended the 2010 season ranked 22nd in the U.S. A.  Also, I’ve been working on bikes and cars for many years.  I’m the chief mechanic for my son and I work in a Chrysler automotive repair center.  

Last year, a family friend introduced me to Micro-Armor.  Dusty is the crew chief for Rusty Schlenk, the 2010 UMP Dirt Late Model National Champion.  He told me how well the Micro-Armor products work for them and a lot of other teams too, so last spring we decided to give them a try.

I just wanted to tell you that we’re glad we listened because the Micro-Armor products are amazing.  We always used high end Belray waterproof grease that many consider the best.  The Micro-Armor 6000 dropped the temperature on our wheel bearings and really worked well on the shock linkages that are normally wearing out due to all the grit and mud.  Also, the Micro-Armor 4000 Spray Lube was amazing on our chains and sprockets.  They also ran cooler and cut our chain and sprocket replacements in half.  Jarrod ran faster and Micro-Armor easily saved us over $500 in replacement parts for the year, by using just over $30 worth of Micro-Armor 4000 Spray Lube and Micro-Armor 6000 Grease.

Dusty also explained the huge savings they got when they put Micro-Armor in their race car hauler and trailer.  He said that Micro-Armor 1000 in the diesel engine increased their fuel economy over 15% in two different diesel haulers.  Also, with Micro-Armor 6000, it was the first season they didn’t burn out one of the triple axle trailer wheel bearings.  Savings like that are important for any race team operating on a tight budget.

So, we took Dusty’s advice and put the Micro-Armor 1000 Engine Treatment in our Ford 460 RV engine.  We saw a huge difference immediately.  Our engine ran smoother and the fuel economy increased from 8.9mpg to 11.1 mpg.  That’s up 24.73%!  I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t calculate the numbers myself.  For the season we drove 18,000.  That means we saved 401 gallons of fuel.

By my math, for the season we saved at least $500 in parts and $1,203 in fuel, by purchasing $70 in Micro-Armor products.  That works out to $24.33 savings for every $1 spent.  That’s the best return on investment I’ve ever had.  And I know Jarred won more prize money by running faster.  Thank you for these products.  Let us know what we can do to spread the word.

Dear Micro-Armor,

A couple of years ago my 1990 Mazda Miata (165,000 miles) had an annoying lifter noise that I couldn’t get rid of.  I tried a few other additive type products but nothing worked.  Then the guy at the counter told me about Micro-Armor 1000 for engines and all the success he had with it, so I decided to give it a try.  Within 4 hours of adding the Micro-Armor to my engine oil, the noise was gone.  I now use Micro-Armor in all my vehicles.

I operate several large farms in Michigan.  I’ve used Micro-Armor grease for nearly 20 years, but my first encounter with the product was on the wobble bar of a new and very expensive combine. 

This is a very dirty, and often wet, application.  Since using this amazing product the bearings have never been replaced.  They just don’t wear out! 

All of my other pieces of my farm equipment, including trucks, tractors, bailers, and many other types of machinery have benefited from using Micro-Armor grease.

Driving a classic 1995 Chevy pickup with a 350 engine, I started using the Micro-Armor 1000 a few years ago at about 180 thousand miles. Thought I would take a few moments and tell you how much we like your products. We have been using Micro-Armor products for only a short time now but we are already seeing improvements. We have been using both the 5000 and 6000 greases. Prior to them, the grease we were using would not last and blow out. Since we have been using your grease we find that it stays put and does not wash out of the bushings and bearings.

We have just started using the 1000 product and do not have much information at this time, but if is anything like the grease, I know that it will show improvements! We plan on putting it into both our engines and the mower gearboxes this summer.

I bought a bottle of the oil treatment at the Detroit Autorama..I run a 93 Honda Prelude 2.2 SOHC, just from the micro armor, temp went from 230 degrees down to just under 200 degrees! I couldn’t believe it.

We call it "Magic Juice" around the shop. It is by far the best lubricant we have ever used. After we packed all the wheel bearings with the bearing grease the Late Model will literally roll out of the shop if we don't have the wheel chalk in place. The more we run the car the easier everything moves. It is by far superior to any other lube that we have ever used.
