Sherri Turner, 39 killed in crash in Clay County Sunday evening

A woman died and two people suffered injuries in a crash in Clay County Sunday evening.

Police say Sherri Turner, 39, turned in front of an oncoming car at the intersection of HWY-80 and Add Hollow Road around 6:30 p.m. the Clay County coroner pronounced Turner dead at the scene. A passenger in Turner's car, Ashtin Turner, 4, and the driver of the second vehicle, Sophia Feltner, 70, were airlifted to UK Hospital.

Officials say the child is in critical condition. Feltner was listed in serious condition.

The crash remains under investigation.

Anthony Shawn Fields, 35, of East Bernstadt, Killed In Tragic Accident

On Thursday, January 19, 2012 at approximately 4:47 PM, the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a report of a male subject found deceased outside of Truitt Brothers, Inc. 3 miles north of London on US 25 in Laurel County.

Upon arrival and investigation into the incident, it was determined that an employee of Truitt Brothers had gone outside to discard some waste into a dumpster and located the victim trapped in the mechanical workings of a waste collection truck.

The victim, Anthony Shawn Fields, 35, of East Bernstadt, was the operator of the waste collection truck when, it is believed, he was attempting to correct a mechanical malfunction and was pinned between moving mechanical parts.

Mr. Fields, who received injury to the torso, was fatally injured.

No foul play is suspected and no autopsy will be performed.

Trooper Brandon Creekmore is continuing the investigation and was assisted by officers from KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Laurel County Sheriff's Department, East Bernstadt Fire Department, London / Laurel County Rescue Squad, Department of Emergency Management and the Laurel County Coroner's Office

Anthony Shawn Fields, age 36, of London, passed away Thursday at East Bernstadt. He was the husband of Jaymee Brown Fields of London, the son of Buster and Jane Fields of East Bernstadt, the father of Joseph Brown and Elijah Fields, both of London, the brother of Johnny Fields of East Bernstadt, and the grandson of Wilda Taylor of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Funeral services for Anthony Shawn Fields will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Ed Wayne Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Weaver Cemetery at London.

The family of Anthony Shawn Fields will receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Sunday.

Military honors will be conducted assisted by the local DAV.

Two Spencer County High School students died and one suffered serious injuries in a crash Wednesday afternoon.

Kentucky State Police say the driver of a pickup truck lost control along Mike Brown Road around 3:30 p.m. The truck flipped several times, throwing two of the victims from the vehicle.

Police say an official with the Spencer County Coroner's Office pronounced Michaella Monroe, 16 and Shelby Bockting, 17, dead at the scene.

Jenna Rigsby, 16, was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital.

According to police, the girls were not wearing seat belts.

Officials say all three girls were juniors at Spencer County High School. Grief counselors are expected to be at the high school to help students there cope with the tragedy.

Sad Story, Young Mother, Melissa Horn, 26, of Jackson County Was Killed In Accident Tuesday Night

Melissa Horn, 26, of Jackson County, was killed after her pickup truck crashed into a minivan.

The accident happened around 5 p.m on Big Hill Road, a stretch of KY-21.

Melissa had three children with her, they were also injured and taken to UK along with the minivan driver. One child was critical and the other two were considered serious.

We are told the roads were wet at the time, but, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Two Knox County EMT's need an ambulance after being T-Boned at Kentucky and 5th Street in Corbin, Kentucky

The ambulance was transporting a patient coming through the intersection with its lights and sirens on. when a car slammed into the side. The ambulance was T-Boned and flipped over on it's side.

The two emergency workers and their patient were taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center. Reports are that none of the injuries were life threatening.

EMS took three people to the hospital after a crash involving a school bus in Laurel County Monday afternoon.

WLEX Reports: Laurel County Sheriff's deputies say the bus pulled out in front of a car driven by Audra Turner, 22, at the intersection of KY-30 and Haley Road just before 4 p.m. The car slammed into the right side of the bus. There were reportedly about 60 students and staff on the bus at the time of the accident.

Deputies say one student was taken to the hospital. EMS also took Turner, and a passenger in her car, Debbie Turner, 45, to St. Joseph's Hospital in London. There was no report on the extent of their injuries, but they didn't appear serious.

A Barbourville man died Friday after he ran a red light, crashed into a tractor-trailer, and drove into a Wendy’s restaurant, according to Corbin Police Department Public Affairs Officer Major Rob Jones.

Anthony Scott, 77, ran the red light at the intersection of U.S. 25E and KY 1629 (Ohler Road) about 6 a.m., Jones said. Anthony Scott’s car was struck in the driver’s side door by a tractor-trailer driven by Shawn Hacker, 43, of Tipp City, Ohio.

After the collision, Jones said Anthony Scott continued down U.S. 25E, veered off the road and drove into the dining room of the Wendy’s restaurant.

Anthony Scott was airlifted to University of Tennessee Medical Center. Jones said he was later pronounced dead by the Tennessee State Medical Examiner’s Office.

A passenger in the car, Linda Scott, 60, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center.

Hacker was uninjured.
